THERAPY, PSYCHIATRY, COACHING

Elizabeth Kieff, MD

I’m a board-certified psychiatrist who uses therapy and pharmacology to treat people. Frequently my patients struggle with mood and anxiety disorders, particularly OCD, along with interpersonal conflict and sexual health. I practice evidenced-based medicine, using developmental frameworks and a process-driven approach to life and health. I believe “normal is negotiated” and am driven to help my patients achieve their goals and authentic self development.

I bring my love of teaching and curriculum design to my practice. Earlier in my career I served as a Student Affairs Dean, student counseling psychiatrist, faculty member, and Director of Wellness programs at the University of Chicago Medical School. I continue to run workshops on the value of play in maintaining a whole and flourishing self.

I enjoy treating adults in moments of transition or change across the life-cycle, and have particular expertise in caring for emerging adults. I see patients in Hyde Park and virtually.

THERAPY, COACHING

Heidi Coleman, LCSW

With equal parts pragmatism and philosophy, I approach the process of therapy from a strength-based perspective, focusing on the potentials of reflection to bring about intentional choices. Life transitions can offer opportunities, however painful, to identify patterns and create alternatives. I deeply commit to collaboration in all aspects of my work, bringing an integrative approach to multiple contexts. The Gottman Method and Discernment therapy inform my work with couples.

Having a 20-year career in the arts and higher education, I draw from creative and theoretical resources, relying equally on conventional theories as kinesthetic observations. Years of work in conflict-resolution have led to work in intersections of identities, be they cultural, class, gender, or sexuality.

Range of focus includes Life Transitions, Odyssey Years (college through career establishment), Gender, Couples Counseling, and Aging.

My offices are downtown, Hyde Park, and virtual.
